Two verses by Raghavendra Hebbalalu on Kali’s smile:
कालकाललयलास्यसमाप्तौ
नन्दिता नृतिमनोज्ञतया सा।
कालिका मुहुरपीक्षणकामा
हासवित्तमददन्नटराजे।।
At the end of the destroyer’s dance of dissolution,
She was pleased with the beauty of the dance.
Kaalii, desirous of seeing it again,
Gave the money of her smile to the king of dancers.

त्रिकालाव्याकृतः स्थाणुर् व्याकृत्यै याचितो यदा।
कालीहासस् तदोत्पन्नः पातु धात्वर्थदो मुदा।।
When the motionless Shiva, the one who is unmanifest in all three times was beseeched for vyAkaraNa,
Kaalii laughed then. May her laughter that gives meaning to dhaatus gladly protect.
ಹಾಳುಬಿದ್ದ ಗುಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿನ ವಿಗ್ರಹ:
ಕುಂದಿದ್ದೊಡಂ ಗುಡಿಗೆ ಜೀವತ್ಪರಂಪರೆಯೊ-
ಳೆಂದಾರೆ ಸಂದೀತು ಮೂರ್ತಿಪೂಜೆ|
ಎಂದೊ ಖಂಡವದಾಯ್ತು (Greece)ಯವನದೊಳು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯು
ಒಂದಾರೆ ಗುಡಿಯೊಳುಂಟೇಂ ವಿಗ್ರಹಂ||
ಕಾಳಿಯ ದೇಹವರ್ಣ ಕಪ್ಪು, ಕಣ್ಣು ರಕ್ತಗೆಂಪು, ವಸ್ತ್ರ ದಟ್ಟ ಹಸುರು (Presumed). ಕೋಮಲವೆನಿಸುವ ಬಿಳಿಬಣ್ಣವಿರುವುದು ಅವಳ ದಂತಪಂಕ್ತಿಯೊಂದೇ:
ಕೃಷ್ಣವರ್ಣತನುಕಾಳಿಯ ನೇತ್ರಂ
ತೃಷ್ಣಮೈ ರುಧಿರದಿಂ, ವಸನಂ ರೋ-|
ಚಿಷ್ಣುಶಾದ್ವಲಮಿರಲ್ ಬಹುಭೀಕಳ್
(Shining)ಪೌಷ್ಣಮೊಂದೆ ಸಿತದಂತದ ಹಾಸಂ||
ಹಂಬಲ:
ಆಸೆಯಿರೆ ದುಡಿಯುತ್ತುಮೀಡೇರಿಸುವೆಮದಂ
ಜೈಸುವೆವು ದ್ವೇಷವನ್ನರಿಮರ್ದದಿಂ|
ನೀಸುವೆವು ಈರ್ಷ್ಯೆಯನ್ನೆಂತೊ ತಂತ್ರವ ಹೂಡಿ
ಮಾಸದಿದು ಹಂಬಲವುಪಾಯಮಿಲ್ಲಂ||
